Facebook has a new round of security and sharing settings worth noting. Here are the newest updates to keep in mind:

1. Embedded Posts

Facebook’s new embedded post feature allows you to add posts from your Facebook page directly to any blog or website. Users can now find a line of code to copy and paste by clicking on the post’s upper right-hand corner.

It’ll look something like this:

To embed, click on the arrow at the top right corner of the post and click “Embed Post”.

Copy and paste the provided code at the top into your blog or website.

Ta-da! It’s that simple. Users can interact with the embedded post by:

  • Liking or sharing the post directly from your web page
  • Liking the Page or following other posts from the author using the top right button
  • Visiting the post’s comments, photos, hashtags and other content on Facebook

Try it out!

2. Secure Social Login

Facebook announced this past Thursday it’s updating its social sign-up feature to make it more secure for users. Users can still sign up for other online services signed into their Facebook account, automatically using their login credentials, but will not have to worry about agreeing to allow outside services to automatically post updates onto their Facebook profile.

Facebook hopes to bring its platform beyond just being a social medium, but more of an identity provider by finding ways to encourage folks to use their social log-in who’ve been previously apprehensive about oversharing inadvertently to online friends.

Smart move. What might be on the horizon: Payment Processing

3. Shutterstock for Facebook Advertisers

Another announcement made last Thursday was the partnership between Facebook and Shuttershock to provide Facebook advertisers with access to 25 million photos for free, which is amazing! As a marketer, it’s very much a challenge to find an image that you legitimately have 100% authority to use. With this new feature, advertisers can find the image that they want and use without worry.

4. Video Ads

Lastly, coming as soon as this fall to your Facebook page will be video ads. Facebook is treading carefully with this idea since the company doesn’t want to bombard its 1 billion members. Once it does happen though, it’ll be pretty spectacular. Facebook is looking to launch a video-ad service that will allow members to view 15-second-or-less clips on both mobile and web. In addition, the team is building out technology that will allow its members to upload and watch video more effectively.

Ease of downloading and uploading will be at the top priority for Facebook as they shell this out. Exciting stuff!
