Google Displays “Not Mobile Friendly” Icons in Mobile Search Results

Is your website mobile friendly? If it isn’t yet, it might be time to consider transitioning your web presence to something more mobile friendly. According to Search Engine Watch, it was reported that Google began testing out new icons that indicates whether on not a website is mobile-friendly or not in mobile search results.
The “not mobile-friendly “is pictured in the photo below (spotted by Twitter user @sandyallenphoto). The gray icons with a slash are meant to quickly communicate to users searching on mobile devices whether or not the website is responsive to mobile.

Google has refused to comment in detail on this new feature, only mentioning that it’s still in “testing” mode. It looks like it is indeed in its testing phases; some websites labeled with the not-mobile friendly icons are actually mobile-friendly. Whether or not this will turn out to be an official feature on the search engine, or something like it, it will definitely be another small nudge towards creating a more mobile friendly world. This feature would also make it easier for users to browse the web on their smartphones, something that Google is always looking to accomplish.
