A blog is a term used to describe a website that maintains and ongoing chronicle of information. It has a diary-type layout (organized by date and category, with the most recent post at the top of the page) that allows a user to add new articles and usually focuses on a particular topic a variety of related topics.

How to Create a WordPress Blog Post
1. Login to your WordPress.com site with your username and password. With WordPress, you have a few options: you can sign up for a WordPress.org blog that’s absolutely free; or, you can choose to have a self-hosted WordPress blog and integrate it in to your new or existing website. Regardless, you’ll need to access your login page to enter your account information.
You’ll then be taken to a Dashboard or homepage that looks like this:
On the left side, select “Posts”.
The title should be no more than 70 characters since title display in search engines is limited. The title should also include keywords to enhance its visibility on search engines and should be short, concise, and clear. Adding a fun spin on the title helps it stand out.
Below, you’ll see a word text box. Make sure that you’re on the visual tab, which should be on the right-hand side of the box. This will make it easier for you to place copy, images, and links. The tool bar at the top is very similar to any other word processor.
To add an image, click on the media button to upload an image from your computer. Once the image is uploaded, you can then add a title, caption, alt text, and description. Make sure to include an alt text description of the image to help the image (as well as the post) get found. Once you’ve finished inserting in the details, click “Insert Into Post”.
Select categories that relate to your post. Categories help users narrow in on blog posts they’re interested in reading. For example, digital media marketing is a wide umbrella comprised of different categories. We are a digital media marketing blog and in this blog we cover content marketing, search engine marketing, video marketing etc., which are different categories. You can select categories that you’ve already created or create new categories.
Categories are broad groups of blog post topics and tags are more specific terms that you can include in your blog post. For example, if we wrote a blog post about a cookie recipe. Our categories would be “dessert,” “baking,” and our tags would be “cookies,” “chocolate chips,” “peanut butter”.
Depending on your specific WordPress theme, you will have to upload a feature image. This image will be featured at the top of your blog post and be the default image for the post. You can choose to select any images you’ve already uploaded or upload a brand new image from your computer.
Schedule & Publish
Last, you’ll need to publish your blog post. You can schedule the post to publish ahead of time or choose to publish immediately. If you don’t want to publish just yet, just click on “save draft” and your post will be saved as a draft to be published later.
