Comscore recently predicted that voice searches would account for 50% of all searches on the Internet while Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, announced last year that 20% of all queries on its Android devices and mobile app were voice searches.

People are using voice search at an expedited rate. Fortunately there are steps you can take today to make sure that you are ready for this transition.
- Research misspellings and mispronunciations of your brand name, products, and other key search terms
It is not uncommon for virtual assistants to misspell words (especially if a word is in a language other than English) and this can have a significant impact on the search results. If you notice a trend in misspellings of your brand name, products and any other associated keywords, test them out to see if they can help your keyword optimization strategy.
- Answer questions your potential customer may ask
The majority of voice searches are questions. Rather than try to rank only for your product, why not try to produce content that will answer their questions and help direct them to your website?
- Have a greater appreciation for natural language
When we type out a search, we use computer language (i.e. “Deals on pools”). When we speak to our phones, however, we use natural language (i.e. “Where can I find a great deal on a pool in Houston?”).
Start optimizing ad copies and landing pages for specific, high value natural language searches. As with the case above, you would not want to bid on a query like “Where can I go swimming in Houston?” but instead would want to raise your bid on queries like “Who is the cheapest pool builder in Houston?”.
