Facebook Adding New Featured Video Section to Business Pages

With Facebook’s recent release of video ads, the social network has shown its emphasis and focus on video on its site. Now Facebook’s taking it to another level with the release of new feature that allows Page admins to build and organize video playlists on the site; this includes the ability to choose a featured video that will display (extra large) at the top of their Business Page.

TechCrunch also spotted an example of these new features on the ABC News Facebook Page.

Facebook confirmed with TechCrunch about the new feature that will look a lot like YouTube channels’ interface. There will be a ‘Featured Video’ section with a ‘Playlists’ option with thumbnails, length, likes, views, and other relevant details displayed.

“As more and more people upload, share, and discover video on Facebook, marketers are realizing the value of video at every stage of the buying cycle, from awareness to conversion,” noted the company’s blog post.

It’s looking like Facebook is looking to increase user engagement and be the go-to place for everything, competing with Google and YouTube with this latest video feature. The new update should reach to all Page admins within the next few weeks. Admins will see a notification underneath their cover photo that will look something like this:

Other Recent Facebook Updates to Note:

As of Dec 2014, Facebook has removed its built-in integration with Bing ensuring that all search queries revolve around the social site’s graph search.

First introduced on its Facebook’s desktop version, Facebook released its Trending feature, a Twitter-like featuring displaying breaking news, on its mobile version this month (Jan 2015). The feature has already been released on Android, but will soon make its way to mobile as well.

Trending provides users with popular news stories while listing popular content shared amongst Facebook users. The links include small snippet about the topic and upon clicking on the snippet, a list of articles and conversations from across the world. The feature gives high priority to content shared by your friends and people you follow.
