The web just keeps on getting bigger, better, and just a bit more interesting. Last week, a Canada-based startup launched a new profiling tool known as the LeadSift Fingerprint, which lets you uncover detailed insights about any Twitter user, including yourself.
It’s a free, open-to-the-public, easy-to-use, and can be found right here. So, how much can you exactly tell about someone just by analyzing their tweets? We tried it out for ourselves.
Here’s how Fingerprint works:
Type in the Twitter username in the box and click “go”.
The tool crawls through the user’s individual Twitter history to uncover psychographic and demographic data about the person by simply analyzing “tweets” made or shared by the user. The tool uses a special natural language processing software to detect and deliver interesting insights just by looking into organic social conversations.
After a handful of seconds, you’re redirected to a page where the results are displayed and easy to understand.
OKAY, so the tool doesn’t go too much into detail about the day in the life of a typical Twitter user, but it is pretty impressive with what it finds in a matter of seconds. The Fingerprint tool can uncover insights such as:
Are you male or female?
Do you have a pet?
What are your interests (art, science, technology, business, etc)?
Is this a corporate or personal account?
Are you married?
Do you have children?
Do you own a car or a house?
Are you employed?
What’s your profession?
For businesses that are interested in learning more about their consumers, LeadSift offers a special, more detailed (probably not free) version.
This new social fingerprinting tool is probably going to be the first of many waves of new tools designed especially for social and search, two areas that we see slowly merging into a symbiotic relationship as the web grows bigger and more complex at every minute of the day.
