Matt Cutts, the head of webspam at Google, shared the latest video about the new Panda update, which addressed what a site owner should do if they’ve been impacted by the Google Panda algorithm in a bad way.

Matt’s answer is this: Make sure you’re writing high quality content, the stuff that’s seen in magazines, books, and what readers would want to share and reference back to.

Creating high-quality content that’s compelling avoids the Panda and tends to rank higher than content that’s duplicate, trite, and unoriginal.

Google Panda was first introduced in February 2011 to stop sites with poor quality or “thin” content to work up their way up to the top of search rankings. Panda has been updated frequently and most recently has been integrated into regular Google indexing.

At the end of the video, Matt recommended taking a look at the Amit Singhal blog post for more guidance on building high-quality sites.
